Payment may be made in several ways.
The following methods are listed in order of preference:
- A cheque in sterling (GBP - £) drawn on a UK bank.
- British Postal Order(s).
- An International Money Order made out in GBP - £. These can be obtained from Postal Administrations, Travel Companies and Finance Organisations.
- Sterling (Bank of England) banknotes and/or current British postage stamps.
- Banknotes/Treasury Bills in US $ or euros. When paying by this method please calculate the exchange rate at the current selling rate for sterling, in your country, and round up to the next convenient amount.
- Foreign Cheques but only if the equivalent of GBP10 (£10.00) is added to meet the additional costs for us handling these cheques.
Notes
- Cheques must be payable to "The London Underground Railway Society".
- We are unable to accept payment by Debit, or Credit Cards or by Travellers Cheques.
- Banknotes sent through the post are at the risk of the sender (unless registered). It is unusual for banknotes to get lost in the UK postal system but it does happen. Ensure that any banknotes are enclosed in a suitable sheet of paper and that they are not visible through the envelope.
- Any other means of payment must be by prior arrangement.
- We cannot accept payment by cheque in euros at the present time.
International Reply Coupons
These are worth the equivalent of £0.45 to us and, in the UK, are expensive to buy. If you intend sending us an IRC we would prefer to receive a US$1 bill. Alternatives are 2 or 3 interesting transport postcards from your country or a local transport map. We accept IRCs for small payments at the rate of 3 to £1.
